It’s already the end of 2019. Another one for the books! Just like last year, I took the time to reflect on the lessons learned this year. Here are my thoughts:
1. Networking:
It is at the core of your professional growth. It can help you climb the career ladder or get offers from potential employers. Bonus: It can lead you to new friendships! 😀 You know what? Through Networking, I met the beautiful Louysa Akerley, Owner of People Strong Recruitment and we have been friends ever since! Set up coffee meetings and watch the magic happen! I promise it will be worth it.
2. Developing Long-Lasting Positive Habits:
Achieving your goals will never happen if you don't start (Action versus Motion). This year, my favorite book was "Atomic Habits" and I got so many takeaways from it! The author James Clear, teaches us how to optimize our lives for the beginning of our journey. Through his book, he explains how to create new habits by starting small, but being steady.
3. Learning from my mistakes:
Over the last few years, I’ve met a number of clients who seem unable to move their lives forward because of their mistakes or something that went wrong or because something they had no control over has made them feel inadequate (same for me)! The truth is in life, everyone faces these situations at some time or another. Developing the ability to learn from every situation whether they be positive or negative will go a long way.
4. Hard work does go a long way:
The only way you can let your talent out is by doing the work. As Seth Godin said “Hard work is about risk. It begins when you deal with the things that you’d rather not deal with: fear of failure, fear of standing out, fear of rejection. Hard work is about training yourself to leap over this barrier, drive through the other barrier. And after you’ve done that, to do it again the next day.” This year, I confirmed that the hard work that I did in 2017 and 2018 is finally paying off and that is an amazing feeling.
These are my Thought from 2019. And now…To all of you, I wish you a year of Happiness, Health, and Good Career Decisions! If there's a slight chance of getting something that will make you happy, RISK IT.
Thank you 2019 and bring on 2020!
